Directed by Martin Scorsese
Martin Scorsese’s Casino is an example of the director at his high-wire best and also his self-indulgent worst. The decidedly messy based-on-a-true-story crime drama is one of the director’s most violent films, telling a story that juxtaposes fraternity and revenge in the arid Nevada desert and its oasis Las Vegas. At a bloated three hours, it will test many viewers’ patience, but there is still a strong spark of Scorsese’s prowess.
